Tennis at Styal during lockdown

First of all, the committee hope you and your families are all keeping safe and well in these difficult times. It is fantastic news that the Government have relaxed the lockdown rules slightly and we are now allowed to re-start the tennis season. However, there are strict rules regarding the continuation of social distancing so please note the following guidelines from the LTA and Public Health England:

• Games of singles between two people not of the same household: you can play singles against other members who are not family members whilst observing social distancing
• Games of doubles or singles between people of the same household: this is fine as long as it is ALWAYS between people of the same household
• If you wish to bring a guest into either of the above scenarios, there will be no charge for this
• In order to play you must book your court online using the following website and you can also access the booking calendar via the Clubspark booker app, which makes it easy to manage your booking : https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/StyalTennisClub/Booking/

There is no charge and this will ensure fair usage of the club for all members. Once this can be relaxed and “normal social tennis” can resume, we will do so! In the meantime, ALL play must be booked online to ensure social distancing is maintained. Courts can be booked for a maximum of 2 hours at a time, with 3 bookings maximum in a 7 day period and you can book 14 days in advance.

• There will be 2 courts available initially: court 1 and court 3 to aid social distancing.
• In line with LTA guidance, there should be a 10-minute gap between the end of one party’s booking and the start of the next booking
• Please bring your own tennis balls and clearly mark them so that they are easily distinguishable
• The clubhouse will be strictly out of bounds and entry is not permitted. Each court will have a combination padlock – the code for both padlocks has been emailed to members. Simply enter the code, lift the top shackle and the lock will open. Please make sure the padlock is secured back on at the end of play.
• Please bring your own water / hand sanitiser
• If players wish to book a slot for individual coaching with Carlos the Coach, this is fine.
• Please remember that any member under the age of 14 years needs to be accompanied by an adult

Fees: the committee is very aware that many people have been impacted significantly by the Covid-19 pandemic, so we have made the decision to reduce the 2020/21 membership fees by 50%. This means that the following will apply for membership up to 31.03.21:

Any clubhouse keys for those not renewing their membership need to be posted to Simon Poyser. The combinations for the court padlocks will be changed on the 1st June and shared with paid up members.
