Dear Member,
We hope you are keeping well and safe. The committee met on Monday (via Zoom) to discuss the latest change in government regulations and guidelines from the LTA, that we are following closely and will amend our procedures in line with any changes. We wanted to provide an update, so that we can all enjoy playing tennis whilst remaining safe.
Please can we request that all members read and follow the latest guidelines issued by the the LTA https://www.lta.org.uk/globalassets/news/2020/lta-guidance-for-tennis-players—covid-19.pdf#_ga=2.143063157.191042001.1595346025-1890162844.1595346025
There are a couple of key points we would like to highlight:
The courts are available for club tennis sessions on a Saturday morning 10am -12pm, Sunday 2 – 5pm and Thursday evening 6 -8pm and all players should follow the social distancing measures. We are planing to reintroduce the American Tournament competition and these will take place on Sunday 16th August, 13th September and 18th October. We need to be able to manage numbers so please let me know if you would like to play so that we can compile a list. The clubhouse will only be available for use of the toilets and we aren’t able to provide prizes and refreshments at this time, but we will keep a record of the winners.
We are liaising with our coach and the LTA to try and reintroduce the Tennis for Kids coaching programme, to ensure we can have the necessary measures in place and I hope to provide an update very shortly.
We have been advised that all NECLTL League and Competitions have been cancelled for the foreseeable future but will keep you updated.
We would like to welcome all new members to the club and hope you are enjoying playing tennis in this idyllic setting. We would like to arrange some events specifically for new members, but in the meantime please do come along to the club sessions and sign up for an American tournament, which are fun and friendly events.
We would like to thank all members of the committee and other members of the club who have given up their time to help ensure the club is open for the safety of members, with the necessary measures in place whilst ensuring the grounds are maintained as we continue to emerge from lockdown.
Best wishes
Styal Tennis Club Management Committee
